New here and hoping to try but confused!Posted by Traci on December 14, 2004 at 18:09:47: Hi everyone,I'm sure you get questions like mine a million times but please bear with me. I've read and re-read the site but I'm still confused so I'm asking for help! I'm hoping to transition my hair over to start using henna from chemical dyes. I know I have to use the body art quality and do tests; I definately will do that. But I'm a little nervous about actually mixing? My hair is a little past my bra strap and medium thickmes/wavy. My ideal color would be like Joanna's in the mixes section. It even sounds like we have the same color hair natually. But how much henna to get? How do I know how much lemon juice to add? And I want to add the paprika as well; how much of that? Then after I get the mix together I understand I have to let it sit for 'dye release'. How do I know it's released? by doing a test on my hand? What do I look for? When I put it on my hair how long do I leave it in? I want a very bright red so is overnight too long? I promise to do a strand test first but I am hoping for opinions. Also, if there is anyone out there that went from dying with chemicals to henna I would love to hear from you. I last dyed my hair October 27th. Thanks for all your help! Traci
