HENNA, need advice! Experienced disappointment covering white/mixed hair with henna.Posted by Daaltje on January 7, 2005 at 13:15:55: .. Daaltje commentsOriginal post from archives starts: Re: picramat in hennas & covering gray hair question i've been using henna from a netherland/german brand called "tol : cosmetics" (in the extra red shade) for years on my mousy blond/brown : hair and the result was always lovely. it also covered grey hairs with a wonderful shiny red and i even used to get compliments on the streets for this color. ....Good hint, thanks bad thing, however, is, that i just found out that this "natural brand" includes one chemical called "picramat" to produce the intense reddening effect. this substance is supposed to be increase allergic sensibilities aswell as genetic changes. now i : wonder: has anyone else here ever heard of this substance being mixed : into henna powders? i'm desperately searching for alternatives now, : but all the hennas i've tried seem to have either no coloring effect : whatsoever (or hardly noticable, like logona or sante) or use picramat as well (as with the brand they often sell in turkish or african shops over here, in germany). as i'm prematurely grey on top i'm really : looking for some natural color i could use every 4 wks that STILL : covers up the grey without making me look like a light-shaded carrot, : ie, turn my hair into some nice warm brown color. any suggestions? : i've heard that light mountain's color the gray might be good, but : it's quite expensive to order it from germany. or do you think those : studies about picramat might just be hysterical? thx for any answer. ... Hello to you from Santa Monica CA. I have hair that is white in from and mixed in back. I just used Light Mountain last night, guided by a woman who uses it for years. And we did the 2 step. And my hair is green and light. ... I need advice and help. I looked cute in the red in the middle of the process. LOL. The link URL is me with picture. I do massage and bodywork, newly certified in Rolfwork. I will be returning to the Netherlands to live in say 3-4 months. ... Happy New Year, united with our cousins in all lands, especially pointing to those who are in deep trouble that we notice and those that we do not. All the best! "Daaltje"
