First of all, that party was attended by thirty or forty gay men and
two women, as is fairly usual for the parties I attend. There's a
running joke that G has a fetish about my hair, particularly about
sniffing it (I use nice, natural shampoos, and do herbal/vinegar
rinses). He once held out a lock of it for his mother to smell,
saying, "Here, smell E--'s hair, she does these herbal rinses," and I
was left squirming, muttering, "G--, give it a break, my hair needs a
wash..." (Incidentally, his mother has beautiful dark thick Indian
hair, don't think she's even greying at 60-odd, and she bloody bobbed
it.) Anyway, at this party he pounced on my hair as usual, I
protested, and next thing I knew I was being mobbed by gay men all
trying to sniff my hair. So of course it was a camera moment. I'm
shy about showing photos with faces in public, but you can imagine the
expression on my face in it!
