henna and soft waves

hello!

my hair is short (4 inches on top) with loose, silky waves. women seem to envy the waves,
but i'm afraid henna would completely destroy them -- since they're SO loose. would
mixing with lemon instead of water help? i've read some of the previous posts about
shampoo and/or conditioning products affecting curl, but i'm wondering if changing the
actual process of applying the henna might make a difference. ? or is henna not for me?

i'm planning on henna after i get all of my blonde highlights cut off. that leaves a medium
brown hair with the tendancy toward highlights AND i have some thin strands of grey
coming in. my skin is pretty light (scandinavian plus german). so any suggestions to get a
rich chestnut brown color that doesn't have any orange in it? (and keep the waves, of
course!)

many thanks -- what a GREAT forum.
