Your mix and posts helped me so much when I first hennaed. You were a few months ahead of me in the process. Thank you for that. I will probably use about 30% amla with henna in my next mix just to see what it does, but it will be a week or so until I am due to henna. In the meantime I am running tests to see what it does on it's own and how best to achieve dye release. The samples are good for scrubbing my face and the hunk of hair I did use it on is so smooth I want to do my whole head with it for the conditioning alone. Debra : My impression has been: : : - Amla alone - conditions, maybe slightly "cools" tones, but no actual color : - Amla + henna during hennaing - cools henna to brown, not red : - Amla + indigo during indigoing - black : : so if you are looking for browns, and plan to henna again, I would try mixing it in : with your next henna, next time, and see how much it changes your color. And then : let us know, I'm curious, too! :) : : kim : : : I guess I may have to abandon my quest for "more brown" than red and : : be happy the henna covers my grey. I'll throw it into my next mix for : : the conditioning and if it cools a bit all the better. My highlighted : : hair has gotten dark and cool enough now that I don't really need the : : indigo anymore.
