(posted : below) -- She said she got a dark espresso brown by doing indigo and salt first, then : henna the next day ... : : Good luck and let us know what you come up with and how it works! : : Also, my starting color, although dark brown, had a lot of gray and a lot of faded out : light brown (from previous chemical dyes) so if your dh has very little gray and his : hair is dark, he is "safer" from the henna's reds than I was ... henna won't make it any : lighter, so if it's close to black already, he's fairly "safe" LOL ... : : kim : Hi Kim, Yes, that is the post I was referring to. And yes, I've read some of the amla posts, I think a combo may be what works best. He has quite a bit of gray, probably 20% I'd say, at least. I'm not really good at judging that!! But his natural color is nearly black (his grandfather was Native American), but not blue black, so he's leary of anything THAT dark. I've done that to myself in the past, NOT a good thing! LOL!! I'm so glad this forum is here, and this whole site. If I had not found this a few weeks ago, I would have made a horrible mistake by using a "boxed" henna on my chemically processed hair and goodness only knows what I would have come up with! LOL!! But I did find it, and the info is just overwhelming. I'm trying to eliminate ALL unnatural and toxic elements from my life, and this was a HUGE help!! Next I'm going to try to make my own shampoo and my own styling gel, I'm so sick of the poisons in all that pre-packaged stuff, and I'm sick of being SICK!! Thanks again, you all are great! Peace, Ginny
