Not amla WITH henna, but
: amla alone, over previously hennaed?

Kim,

I put straight amla mixed with warm water on a section of my hair as a
test a few weeks ago for about 90 minutes and it didn't change the
color a bit. It felt softer and smoother but that's it.

Last night I hennaed with 25% amla but I am withholding judgement
until I wash my hair again and it gets to oxidize a bit. This time I
left it mixed separately with very warm water as long as the henna (30
hours, my house is cold) for any dye release. Everything it stained
after being mixed with the henna like my forehead, scalp, grout in the
bathroom and soap scum by the drain in the sink was very brown rather
than orange. I am hopeful it did more than walnut powder ever did,
but again it surely isn't a drastic difference so far.

I'll report back when I wash my hair again.
