I am sorry henna is not working out for you. I too am growing out
chemo trashed hair and doing henna over it. My roots are dark
brown. My roots do take the henna and get a nice red hue in the
sun. Have you tried adding indigo? Have you used body art quality
henna? The mix that I use is listed on the mixes page under Ashley.

Good luck with the bleach! Maybe you could do just chunky highlights
and dye over that? It would be less hair!

Hi Everyone,
:
: First of all I must say that I love how henna conditions my hair
but
: unfortunately I will have to have it bleached out. I don't know if
: any of you know that once you henna you are stuck with it. You
: cannot color over it and for it be removed you have to let it grow
: out or bleach it out. I have always used a light brown box color.
I
: thought I would switch to a healthier color (henna) but I have a
: problem. My roots do not take any color (dark brown) and the rest
of
: it is now (brownish/reddish). My hair color is too dark and I
: absolutely hate it. I cannot get any color on my roots so I am
either
: stuck with living with a 2-tone head until it all grows out or
: bleaching it out and recoloring using a regular dye.
:
: Well that is what I am going to do and I might add it is going to
: cost me about $200.00 to do this whole thing at an AVEDA Hair Salon
: in New York. I tell you the thought of bleaching my hair makes me
: feel like crying but I have no choice. If I had known this I would
: NEVER EVER have used henna. Good luck to you all and I hope you
know
: what you are getting into.
