ALWAYS test before applying to your whole head!Posted by Tracy on February 9, 2005 at 11:17:39: Although I'm new here, and have hennaed my hair once (love it...butdon't get me started again), I've been colouring my hair for about 20 yrs. The chemical boxes tell you to DO A TEST before applying it to your whole head. Catherine tells us DO A TEST before applying it to your whole head. I know that I was so excited to henna the first time, that waiting for dye release was torture...but I first spent a lot of time researching, and saving furballs from my brush. I took 1/2 of those furballs and put them in dye-released henna, let it sit for 4 hrs, rinsed it, dried it, compared it to the hair from before...let it sit a couple of days, and looked again. DO A TEST! And when I get the batch of Catherine's henna in the mail, I'll mix it, and do the same..I'm already saving my furballs. I want to have a really good idea of the colour before I apply it to my entire head. If my hair melted into a plastic-like lump and was smokin'...I would have just had a black smokin' furball! It's an amazing thing that we've found we can colour our hair with some leaves and lemon juice (or whatever mixture you have brewed)...but really know what you're in for BEFORE you slather up your skull. Just my two cents (Canadian). Tracy
