Lawsone is the dye molecule andlawsone is lawsone is lawsone. The amount of lawsone may vary ..... but not the lawsone itself. Climate and soil will favor higher or lower levels of lawsone, and one crop can have more lawsone than another (henna is cropped 3 or 4 times a year). Commercial henna growing regions are very similar in climate and soil and the difference between the best crops of the group is negligable. The stuff about one henna always staining red and another always staining brown is 85% rubbish. There are some poor quality hennas that always stain orange because they have low levels of lawsone. There are some hennas that have added alkanet, myrobalan, or impatiens, and those may stain more red, but good luck finding a supplier who admits their henna has those things added. If its good body art quality henna, you'll get lots of lawsone.
