Many thanks for getting back to me. I have tried black walnut hull
powder with henna mix but it didn't do anything. May be it is the
way I brewed it, I added boiling water to it and left it alone for 5 -
6 days. It didn't wrok. Do you know the right way to brew it?

I have also tried coffee (although instant) as well as black tea.
Nothing happened again. How do you go about it yourself? I'd
appreciate your advice (and anyone else out there who may also have
tried same).

Thanks.

: Others on this forum are much more experienced that I am, but you
: might try indigo, black walnut and very little henna. Remember,
: henna always will give red, it is the added ingredients that give
the
: other colors. Also, better quality henna is supposed to give less
of
: an orange color, more of a deep red. You can also try using coffee
: and black tea instead of water in your mix. This has worked well
for
: me. If you use coffee, don't use instant or decaf and use day-old
: coffee. Make sure to check out the mixes and "what's in it" pages
on
: this website.

: : I'm not sure what happened to my second message either. It was
: going
: : to be moved from the Henna forum to this site but I can't find
it.
: So
: : here I am agian, posting it on this site. I am not sure what I am
: : doing / not doing in order for my message to stay up there...? My
: : message was:
: :
: : "I have Asian / Oriental hair which is greying around the
temples.
: I
: : tried dying with henna and black walnut hull powder but it went
: : red/orange. The wlanut powder didn't work somehow. I am not sure
if
: I
: : soaked it right. How do I get a brown tint from walnut powder?
Are
: : there other ways too? Any ideas out there?? Please help!"
