I think that some of it can be dislodged if you use a great deal of polar solvents in the hair. In other words hot oil treatments, deep conditioning, or alcohol rinses. This is why I tell my henna victims not to condition their hair to retain the color. The fading isn’t significant enough to actually remove much of the dye so I hesitate to recommend it as a way to remove henna. I think it is essentially permanent as well.
