Try adding just a drop or two of hyacinth oil to your henna mixture
and see if you like the smell any better. A few drops of almost any
scent oil (carnation, rose, lavender, lily, etc.)should be able to
cover the pungeant henna scent. Some oils that have a nice scent
aren't necessarily "essential oils" but will still dilute to a lovely
scent that lingers.

You can also try something Lorraine Massey, author of "Curly Girl"
suggests as for women with curly hair - boil water for a half hour to
remove impurities, then add 5 drops of your favorite scent of oil to
the water. Stir, and when the water has cooled, pour it into several
of the small plastic spray bottles you can buy in the drug store.
Massey suggests women with curly hair spritz their hair every morning
and scrunch to tame bedhead as well as give their hair a lovely scent.
