henna for natural red head?

Just wondering...I have red hair naturally (and since I do henna body art, people do
ask me if my hair is henna'ed as well).
If I wanted to get the benefits of henna for my hair, but not
necessarily CHANGE the color in an obvious way ('cause I like the
color it is), what would be the best way to do this?
Would I need to use one of the so-called "neutral hennas"?
I really want to use real henna.
I guess I could do strand tests....
Any other ideas?
