I made up the henna about two and a half hours before we needed it;
this henna releases dye in two hours. However, it wasn't all fresh
henna. About a quarter to a third was leftovers from the batch I'd
made up for the hairbrush test nine hours previously. Could that have
been the trouble? The only other thing that was different was that I
used different essential oils (lavender/tea tree instead of palmarosa)
and added a bit of olive oil. Apart from that, it was exactly the
same: henna, cloves, lemon juice, water. I'm going to skip the terps
next time as Catherine reckons they're not necessary. Thoughts, anyone?
