Could I be allergic

I cannot use hair dye as I am allergic to it. I tried some henna
from the body shop brown and I applied some to the front of my hair
only as I have a grey streak and left it on for about an hour I
washed it off and I felt hot and aggitated and generally unwell that
I took an antihistamine. Is it possible that I could be allergic to
henna?

My mother used red henna for years without any problem.

Can you advise me what to do. Thanks
