Help! Any Tips? Dealing with Indigo's consistency

I've been hennaing and indigoing for about 6 months now, and have
really gotten used to the rituals of applying/length of time needed
to color my hair, etc. But there is one thing that I'm not getting
used to: the consistency of indigo. Does anyone have tips on how to
make indigo less sloppy? I've been adding cassia obovata and that
seems to help somewhat, but perhaps dilutes the richness of the dark
indigo that I need to react to my already hennaed hair.

Any advice appreciated...
