change of hair texture?

I recently used henna on my hair and my mom's and we both love the
color. However, we're both a bit dodgey about the change in our hair
texture. We both have thick, fine hair that's previously been colored
but it's normally very easy to get out of the shower and comb through
with out tangles because we don't have much damage to our hair. After
henna we both agreed that our hair felt like straw and getting a comb
through without tons of conditioner or silicone product was nearly
impossible! It's been 5 days since we did it, I washed my hair
numerous times, and it's hardly lessened the effect. I plan on
hennaing again but I wanted to know if it's going to do this again or
is there something different we can try???
