: So my big questions:
: 1. if I do this again next weekend, what mixture should I use to
: make sure the orange tones down?
first of all, just wait a couple of days to see how much the orange
tones down by itself. it will tone down considerably as the henna
oxidizes.

if it doesn't tone down enough, you can also redo just the grays, with
a mixture that has more indigo in it, or even pure indigo. this is
what I do to cover my particularly dye-resistant platinum blonde
streaks - I add salt to the indigo to make it take better.

the indigo you have left now will be useless so you'll need to mix up
a new batch of that, but you can freeze and re-use your henna leftovers.

: 2. the mixture dripped out of the saran and all over me - many
: times. what's a better way to keep this from happening?
use less liquid for sure. also try adding dextrose - dextrose works
really well to improve the consistency of your paste. see link below.

: 3. the post-henna smell on my head is really unpleasant to
: me....should I add a favorite eo to the next batch to change that?
yes. or cloves. or anything else that smells good to you. some eo's
are skin irritants so be careful which you use and don't use too much,
obviously.

good luck!
