HELP!!!!

I am an 18 year old with(naturally) brown hair with reddish tints. I
wanted to emphasise these so I put on red henna for 40 mins, thinking
that as you were supposed to leave it on for 'at least an hour',
nothing dramatic would happen. I was wrong. My hair is now VERY red
and I absolutely hate it. Please could someone help me? My family are
just laughing at me and saying 'i told you so', and I can't bear to
go out on public. I don't know what to do, I'm so upset. I can't bear
to think about what it will be like once it starts growing out.
Please please please help me.
