Re: ...searching for burgundy...Posted by Tara on May 26, 2004 at 19:19:27: In reply to: Especially for Tara, Kim in MI, those searching for burgundy... posted by Diane on May 26, 2004 at 16:38:58: : I just had to share. A harvested hair test that I left in my henna: mix for 8+ hours yielded a colour that I just wasn't expecting! almost 9 hours gave me the closest colour : to "burgundy" I have seen yet! I mean not a HINT of orange, just a : very very deep cherry red! You're kidding? What about my '15 hr test' ?? *it was actually 22 hrs* It didn't even really look as though it had darkened my previously hennaed strands. I did notice it didn't have that orange glow initially, but otherwise, unaffected. And I'm sure I had dye release. Hmm maybe if I tried again, heating up the mix a bit. Oh another thing I'm considering now...is some kinda highlighting streaks. I saw in a post that was actually referring to indigo..that covering the strands with foil might work as it does in streaking with henna. So..I thought about maybe trying that. Leave some streaks to henna 4hr or whatever (I might be able to manage streaked bits for 8 hrs) see what happens. Anyhow..rambling now. Back to the mixin board I go. Great...just when I had started focusing on soaping mixes again LOL Now I've gotta juggle the 2 Thanks Diane LOL No really though...thanks for the info ~Tara~
