If : your hair can't really take brushing or washing right now...? : : I think that all you can do is wait and see how your hair recovers, : and then do very cautious testing. Did you look up hairbrush testing, : which is described elsewhere on this site? It's when you harvest hair : from your hairbrush and test the henna on that. Wait a while, see : where hairbrush tests get you, and then think again. Hopefully your : hair will recover. Maybe when it gets past a certain point, when most : of the hair is new growth but there's still a certain amount of : damaged ends, your hair will be able to cope? Im not an expert, so I don't know if this idea would work or not, but its an idea. Since the main concern here seems to be the weight of the henna, could you not make a thinner batch (for instance diluted with scalp invigorating steeped herbs such as sage and rosemary or nettle)for instance add more liquid and maybe an egg yolk so its not so heavy and just do a lighter henna-ing until your hair gains strength you could gradually lessen the liquid until your up to full tilt. At least you would be getting some of the hair strengthening benefits of the henna and with any luck maybe a bit of coloring too. Just a thought. Valerie
