dextrose instead of pectinPosted by iris on November 26, 2004 at 21:48:22: I experimented a couple of days with adding dextrose to henna paste,rather than pectin. I posted about this awhile ago, and the hennapage article that was the inspiration for the experiment is linked below. I used 2/3 henna and 1/3 dextrose, and it worked very well! no drips, paste was very easy to work with, and of course it also stretched out the paste so I needed less henna (dextrose is cheaper - colour result was the same as with just henna). the whole process of application and keeping it on was such a breeze that I almost forgot to post this here ;-) it's a good alternative for pectin because you don't have to do any boiling with dextrose. I'm also thinking it may be good for indigo users, because the consistency of indigo paste is such a nightmare and pectin doesn't seem to work with indigo. just in case this helps anyone. iris
