Ok, I'll tell K to wait a couple of months (which brings us to Finals,
oh joy - oh well, what better way to celebrate the end of this year's
exams than with henna?) and then start doing hairbrush tests.

I think L, the flatmate who had the PPD reaction, still wants to
colour her hair, and I gather that chemical dyes are not out of the
question for ever and amen. She has mousy brown hair, dyed it black
this time which I personally thought was too dark, chocolate brown or
even chestnut would have worked better with her skin. I think it's
three months since the PPD disaster. As far as I know, she doesn't
want to go red, and from my experience mousy hair goes pretty much
Titian with henna. So a) should she stay off hair dyes of any type,
even vegetable, and b) is hennaing in any shape or form suitable?
Daniel Field do some nice vegetable hair dyes, used them a few years ago.

Question number two: deep conditioning for my hair WITHOUT colour
(well, you might be able to talk me into the faintest red tinge, but
I'm still pondering that one), and without too much hassle (like
putting pounds of mud on my hair and then spending hours washing it
out, I haven't the stamina any more). I noticed that Fia had posted a
recipe for a deep conditioning treatment with a bit of henna, could
you tell me more about it? I also noticed references to senna
somewhere, is that worth a try? My natural hair colour started off
blonde in childhood, then darkened. When I started henna aged 20, it
was a bronzey colour, ranging from brown to gold. (The pale blonde
bits at my temples used to go bright orange when I hennaed and looked
grey in copmparison if I missed them, one reason I stopped.) I
hennaed for a couple of years and then have been growing it out for
four; it's gradually emerging from beneath the henna, and seems to
have darkened a bit again. The goldy bits aren't as bright as they
used to be, so anything that'll brighten them up a bit won;'t hurt as
long as it's subtle. But mainly I'm thinking deep conditioning. I
live near a very good herbal supplier (Napiers), which is handy.

Ideas, my dears?
