Worried about the brittle / dry factor

Hi ... Im 47 years old have used permanents & semi permanents since
age 30. For some years now my hair has started thinning, drying out
and looking like "Witchy Poo" in Puffinstuff (that's for all those
kids in their late 40's). Currently my permanent brown dye is about
2 inches from the roots... Yes I'm preparing for my first henna
adventure...and its been two months since my last perm dye job.
Given that brittle, dry witch hair has been a prob for some time
(hormonal?, commercial dyes?, blow drying?, ageing?).. I'm wondering
whether Hennah applied to commercial dye ...will really up the
brittle dry factor? Can anybody discuss similar issues.
