technical question for CatherinePosted by Diane on April 17, 2004 at 10:43:55: Catherine, I know you've said that henna doesn't just coat the hair, but is actually IN the hair ( the "coating the hair shaft" misinformation is EVERYWHERE you are the only person I have seen state otherwise) so can you tell me this: is the natural colour of the hair chemically altered by the henna or simply masked by the henna? In other words, is the natural colour lurking under the henna or is the hair that has been dyed now permanently changed? Just wondered. Please reassure me: it DOES NOT wash out, does it? I keep seeing things about removing henna (there's a new post on the board today in fact) and have read that heavy duty conditioner or other oily substances can remove it. I am on a conditioner only hair regime and it does look to me that the colour is lightening --OR is it just my week old henna still oxidising to its final colour? Thanks Catherine...
