AND I quit craving carbs in about two weeks. I eat NO beef (I think mad cow is VERY previlant, and I have to say "No thank you" to the beef), I do drink one or two cups of coffee, my only real vice, since I don't drink and don't smoke, and since I gave up sugar, I do still have one or two cups of coffe daily, just in the morning. I didn't give up pasta though, I make my own using Spelt, which is a very ancient old grain, related to wheat, but different, it's not been genetically altered or screwed with, so it's pretty much the same way it's been for thousands of years, and it has the most wonderful taste! So I make my own pasta with that, I buy organic baking spelt at Wild Oats here where I live, and it's wonderful!! And I do eat anything else, and have NO problems what so ever, just getting rid of the sugar and wheat (I do eat potatoes occasionally, since they are not processed). Oh, and I also do not EVER eat hydrogenated oils, VERY bad stuff. I use mostly olive oil, and butter, and occasionally soy bean or peanut oil from reliable sources. But I've dropped 90 pounds in one year, and that is without ANY excercise because I've been wheel chair bound for a year. I only recently got my knee replaced, and will be having surgery on my foot this spring sometime, then, HOPEFULLY, I will be able to walk normally again. But I am proof positive, sugar and wheat are BAD for you! :) Glad you're having success with the life changes, as they say "you are what you eat"!! Peace, Ginny : Just for fun, and for no other particular reason, I've been : following a very strict new way of eating (new to me) and I've been : feeling a tremendous amount of energy and general overall good : health, mental too. I've begain eating only veges, fruits and lean : meats, (organic only when I can) and that's it, period. that is, no : dairy, no starches, no grains oats beans cereals of any kind, etc. : : It's been really hard at first, because I'm addicted to pasta, : cheese and coffee *smiles* but I made a commitment for 1 month, I'm : about 3 weeks into it now and can say that although I had no weight : I really wanted/needed to lose, and I did not actually lose weight : per se, but I lost a noticeable amount of inches. interesting stuff. : : I have to say, I've cheated on the coffee but I'm trying very hard!
