PROCESSING is what's so bad......Posted by Ginny on February 9, 2005 at 14:34:56: In reply to: this might not be a popular subject... posted by RavynG on February 9, 2005 at 09:51:25: Perhaps "natural" and "chemical" are not the correct terms, often whatis more dangerous to use than ANYTHING are "processed" items. Sugar is natural, BUT it is HIGHLY processed and in my mind is one of the most harmful and toxic substances on the planet, simply because of the way it is "processed". I've spent several years rebuilding my immune system and ridding it of toxic "processed" substances, wheat, sugar, NSAIDS, and other such things. The "chemical" hair dyes are just the latest of the toxins I'm ridding myself of. ANYONE can be ALLERGIC to anything, but natural UNPROCESSED substances are much more likely to be safer than man-made PROCESSED substances. When people take natural occuring substances and process them down, and rearrange their molecular structure by heating, cooling, adding other things, or however it's done, it makes it a different substance. Like cocaine for instance, natural YES, processed VERY MUCH SO. People in south america chew on the leaves right off the trees, the UNPROCESSED leaves, have little to no dangerous affects on them what so ever, that can hardly be said for cocaine. And as for marijuana, I wouldn't put it in the same category as arsnic and cyanide. Not to get into a major debate over marijuana, but in recent studies, it has been shown to not only NOT be addictive, it's been shown to not cause ANY brain damage what so ever, even in long term serious users. Is it for everyone, nope, but then neither is broccoli!! :) Oh, and just as a side note, after eliminating wheat, sugar and potatoes from my diet, I've lost 90 pounds, yep, you read that right 90 pounds in ONE YEAR. I eat EVERYTHING else, just not those things!! Think they aren't bad for you????????? But my main point is, natural, UNPROCESSED items, those found right out of nature, grown in healthy, organic conditions are much more likely to be accepted by most people. My 11 year old son is allergic to store bought eggs, BUT can eat the eggs from OUR own chickens. Wonder why?? Ever wonder about the drugs, and crap that are fed to those poor animals?? PROCESSING...... That is a much more accurate word than "natural" or "chemical", in my humble opinion anyway!! :) Peace, Ginny
